Twitter : les contenus manipulés ne sont plus les bienvenus

Twitter a mis à jour une nouvelle politique contre les contenus falsifiés. La mesure du réseau social prend effet à partir du 5 mars. Elle vise à lutter contre la désinformation.

Les tweets visant à nuire ou à tromper le public seront retirés ou étiquetés avec un avertissement. Twitter pourra aussi réduire leur visibilité ou ajouter du contexte. La mesure concerne les contenus modifiés notamment des montages vidéo ou audio ou les images éditées.

Pour évaluer si des médias ont été modifiés de manière significative ou fabriqués à des fins de tromperie, Twitter prendra en compte les facteurs suivants : « le contenu a été édité de façon substantielle, d’une manière qui modifie fondamentalement sa composition, son ordre, son déroulement ou son cadrage » ; « des informations visuelles ou sonores (comme de nouvelles images vidéo, des sons mixés ou des sous-titres modifiés) ont été ajoutées ou supprimées » ; « un média représentant une personne réelle a été fabriqué ou simulé ».

Un label sera activé dès qu’un tweet répond à ces critères. Twitter va aussi analyser ces 4 éléments : le texte du tweet qui accompagne ou fait partie du média suspecté par le réseau social comme étant un contenu trompeur, les métadonnées associées au média, la biographie sur le profil de l’auteur du tweet suspecté, les sites web affichés sur le profil de l’auteur ou dans le tweet qui a partagé le média visé. L’objectif est d’évaluer le contexte du tweet pour voir si le média pourrait entraîner une confusion ou un malentendu, ou suggérer une intention délibérée de tromper les personnes sur la nature ou l’origine du contenu, en prétendant faussement par exemple qu’il représente la réalité.
