Le port des masques s’accentue ces derniers temps avec le coronavirus. Avant l’avènement du Covid-19, le masque se portait par certaines personnes pour des raisons de santé. Il sert par exemple à certaines femmes à cacher leur visage au Japon.

En cas de manifestation, les participants ont l’habitude d’utiliser des masques pour éviter les effets du gaz lacrymogène, dans plusieurs pays du monde.
Au Togo, avant le Coronavirus, le masque est utilisé dans la majorité des cas par des médecins et par des conducteurs de taxi-motos communément appelés Zemidjan. Mais aujourd’hui, il n’est pas rare de rencontrer des Togolais avec des masques dans les rues, n’importe où à cause de la pandémie. Des revendeuses au bord de la route en passant par le jeune mécanicien du quartier, tout le monde veut se protéger contre le mal.
En mode masque
Le port de masque comme une mode ne date pas d’aujourd’hui. De célèbres artistes l’utilisent même dans leur tube. C’est le cas par exemple de l’artiste Robinio Mundibu dans sa chanson titrée « Misu Na Misu ». Ce morceau sorti bien avant le Covid-19 totalise plus de 11 millions de vues. On peut voir des danseurs de l’artiste esquisser des pas avec des masques à gaz.
Des défilés de mode avec des masques ont également été organisés dans différentes localités dans le monde bien avant la pandémie. La styliste Marine Serre a par exemple, à l’occasion de la Fashion week à Paris le 25 février 2020, fait défiler des mannequins avec des masques, bien avant la propagation du virus.
Le Covid-19 a accéléré le port de masque. L’industrie de la mode ne cesse de créer de nouveaux modèles de masques adaptés à tous les âges.
A cette allure, le masque risque de devenir une nécessité et une habitude dans la façon de s’habiller dans notre quotidien au point où plusieurs oublieront sa vraie utilité et le préféreront en termes d’élégance et de beauté.
