Conclave des organisations de presse privée: les médias face à leur propre image

L’année 2020 s’est mal terminée pour la presse privée au Togo. La fin d’année a été marquée en effet par des interpellations de journalistes, la fermeture d’un organe de presse…

Autant de choses qui suscitent des questions chez les organisations de presse très préoccupées. Elles étaient en conclave ce mardi 26 janvier à Lomé, rapporte « lopinion ».

Pour le confrère, c’était une occasion pour les organisations de presse de faire un bilan sur l’année écoulée et de plancher sur la dure situation que traverse la presse privée afin d’y remédier.

Pour le président de l’observatoire Togolais des Médias (OTM), Fabrice Petchezi « Suite à tout ce que traverse la presse privée, il était important ces échanges pour nous mirer, voir ce qui n’a pas marcher et ce qu’il faut corriger ».
Il a été également question de la convention collective et de l’aide de l’Etat à la presse.
Le retrait de récépissé du journal l’indépendant Express était aussi au cœur des échanges, précise le confrère.
Face à cette situation M. Petchezi ne veut pas rester les bras croisés « Nous allons faire des plaidoyers auprès des autorités pour voir s’il y a possibilité de sauver les meubles, pas amener l’exécutif à influencer la justice. Le retrait de récépissé d’un journal ne fait pas honneur ni à la presse ni aux autorités. Nous reconnaissons que nous sommes parfois coupables de certaines dérives, mais nous disons qu’on peut s’attendre à des sanctions pas aussi élevées comme le retrait pur et simple de récépissé ».

La rencontre a vu la participation des organisations comme le CONAPP, le PPT, l’URATEL, l’UJIT, l’ATOPEL…
