Le quotidien Liberté et le bihebdomadaire l’Alternative sont sanctionnés par la Haute autorité de l’audiovisuelle et de la communication (Haac). L’information a été rendue publique grâce à un communiqué de l’organe régulateur des médias. Plusieurs raisons motivent cette décision de l’organe présidé par Pitalounani Telou.
L’Alternative ne paraîtra plus à compter de ce 23 mars 2020 et ce pour deux (02) mois. Quant à Liberté, ses parutions sont suspendues pour 15 jours à compter du 25 mars prochain. C’est ce qu’a décidé la Haute autorité de l’audiovisuel et de la communication à la suite des séances d’audition qu’elle a tenues respectivement avec le directeur de publication du quotidien Liberté et celui du bihebdomadaire l’Alternative qui s’est fait représenter par deux (02) journalistes de son média ».
« Accusations graves infondées et calomnieuses » contre l’ambassadeur de France au Togo
Dans une lettre datant du 06 mars 2020, Marc Vizy, l’ambassadeur de France au Togo portait plainte contre le bihebdomadaire L’Alternative, suite à un article titré « Franck PARIS, l’intrigant », n°169 du 28 février 2020. L’article comporterait des accusations infondées contre M. Franck Paris, conseiller pour l’Afrique du président français. Marc Vizy a aussi porté plainte contre le quotidien Liberté suite à sa parution du 3 mars 2020 comportant des accusations graves et infondées. La Haac convoque alors les directeurs de publication des deux journaux.
La Haac insatisfaite des raisons données par L’Alternative et Liberté
Invité par la Haac à une séance d’audition, le 16 mars 2020, pour échanger sur la véracité du contenu de cet article, le Directeur de publication du bihebdomadaire l’Alternative, M. Ferdinand Mensah Ayite s’est fait représenter par Pierre-Claver Kouvo et Isidore Kouwonou. Les deux (02) journalistes au bihebdomadaire l’Alternative n’ont pas pu convaincre la Haac sur la véracité des propos contenus dans l’article indiqué, selon l’institution en charge de la régulation des médias au Togo.
La Haac considère donc que le bihebdomadaire L’Alternative n’a pas respecté les règles professionnelles. Elle estime qu’il a violé des dispositions du code de déontologie des journalistes du Togo, du Code de la presse et de la communication et de la loi organique relative à la Haac. L’instance régulatrice a donc donné raison au plaignant. Le bihebdomadaire est suspendu pour deux (02) mois à compter du lundi 23 mars 2020, jour de la délibération.
La Haac estime également que le directeur de publication de Liberté, M. Médard Amétépé n’a pas pu apporter suffisamment d’arguments pour défendre le contenu de son article. Liberté écope alors d’une sanction : la suspension de parution de quinze (15) jours du quotidien à compter du 25 mars 2020.
